Ponte dei Pugni: one of the bridges on which, in olden days, the traditional battle between the two factions of lower class people, the Castellani and the Nicolotti used to take place; they were the two opposing parties in Venice San Pietro di Castello and San Nicolò dei Mendicoli. On the top of the bridge, which was once without balustrading, the rival groups fought hard throwing each other into the canal below. Campo San Barnaba (remember the movie Indiana Jones and the last Crusade?). Fondamenta Della Toletta so called from a narrow bridge of planks at one time thrown across the canal to serve as a bridge. Finally Accademia Bridge: a most beautiful view on the Grand Canal.
