  • The Island and the Laces

Burano is the island, in the Northern Venetian Lagoon, of colors and lace (and we will visit a laces shop where we can photograph women working on fine lace), among colourful houses a ploy that allowed fishermen to find them even if the fog - and shops selling hand-embroidered lace strictly due to a tradition.

  • The Colors of Burano

All visitors of Burano remain intrigued by the many colors of houses that are reflected into the green waters of channels, by the Oblique Bell Tower, by the tranquility and the calmness of the elderly ladies, by the children who dart freely with their bicycles, balconies with multicolored flowers, fishermen who put up fresh fish from their traditional boats.

The typical Burano’s houses are mainly squared-shaped and are divided into two or three floors. At the low ground there is the kitchen, the breakfast nook and the toilet. At the next floors there are the bedrooms. The different colours of the houses, which today represent the our island main feature, at a previous time was useful to delimit the properties.

  • The tiny streets

Among Burano’s tiny streets there are a lot of “Capitelli” (capitals) placed in the Calli entrances and, searching for them, surely you will bump into the most famous and colored house in the island: la Casa di Bepi Suà (the house of Joseph Sweaty).

  • Mazzorbo

Mazzorbo is a nice island located right next to Burano, and linked to the major island by a wooden bridge called by the locals "Ponte Longo" (long bridge). Mazzorbo is rich in history and beauty. It's main richness is for sure the agriculture: here on the island you can find hundreds of artichoke fields, as well as vineyards and fruit trees.

  • Torcello

It was in the 11 century that Torcello started to waiver due to the unhealtiness of its environment and its people started to strip the island of its marble and bricks to move to nearby Venice.

Throughout the centuries only few architectures of its ancient centre have remained to testify for history: the basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, the church of San Fosca, the Baptistery and few little palaces.

  • The Lagoon

The Lagoon, and it seems almost superfluous to remind you, is not just Venice. Atolls sunk in the poetry of uncontaminated naturals habitats, which deserve all a trip, for searching and rediscover the roots of thousand years journey.
