LEICA M Photo Seminar | The Art of Seeing & Capturing the Moment

Rangefinder LEICA: Analog or Digital is always Leica | Available Light Photography with Leica M9

Compact, discret and a technical masterpiece. Inspiration for photographer since 1925. Take the LEICA M9 for a spin on a magical evening in Venice, discovering the beauty of the low lights conditions around St. Mark's Square. Experience why the world’s first digital rangefinder camera with a full-format 24 × 36 mm sensor continues the legendary heritage of the Leica M system, known for its outstanding available light capabilities. Mario will explain why the M-System is the tool to shoot in low light. Find out why great photographers like Elliott Erwitt and Henry Cartier-Bresson made the M camera their camera of choice.

Following requests from LEICA enthusiast photographers I’ve developed a one-two-days LEICA M Workshop. It is ideally suitable for LEICA M8 and M9 digital users or aspiring owners, perhaps coming from a film M, or DSLR background.

  • Learn how the Leica M rangefinder system sets the LEICA M9 apart from the market-dominating SLR and compact digital cameras and makes it particularly suitable for vibrant reportage photography, ‘available light’ exposures and discreet portraiture.

  • Mario will explain how Leica M photographers become part of the action and still perceive what is going on outside the viewfinder frame. The decisive moment can be anticipated, and can therefore be captured at precisely the right instant.

  • The days are designed to expand your capability and technique. The relationship is of two photographers, rather than tutor / pupil. I’ve multi-disciplinary experience to offer a new way to see, rather than how to look for photos. I’m there not only as mentor offering advice, tips and a new technical perspective.

  • We covered: M camera management, user tips and techniques, workflow solutions, working with DNGs and JPEGs, image enhancement and more.

  • I’ll teach you all the basics in face-to-face training sessions and guide you through more advanced projects. So whether you’re brand-new to LEICA or somewhere in between, Mario will help take your skills to the next level.

  • Attendee's will learn how to shoot hyper focal with the M-series rangefinder, capturing the decisive moment unobtrusively, introducing urgency to your street images.

  • Travel photographers will learn the art of seeing, street photography, capturing familiar city structures, events, and landmarks that give Venice its unique personality.

  • Serious amateurs and advanced photographer interested in learning how the skilled use of a LEICA is an indispensable addition to your camera bag would be interested in this workshop!

  • Mario widely used LEICA cameras to document the Fulani nomadic culture in the West African country of Nigeria on Unicef assignment.
